Sai Baba in Berwick Australia

In the Home of Dr. Ian Gordon

I have never been a devotee of Sai Baba or visited his Ashram. The events which I describe here occurred spontaneously due to his initiative. I have seen my role as observing and reporting for others.

Tuesday 14th April, 2015
How unexpected! I was walking along the hall at home, passing the healing sanctuary, when I noticed sunlight coming in the window and lighting up the small table used for photos and spiritual objects. The sunlight was not upon any other part of the room. Intrigued, I took my shoes off and entered the sanctuary.

Intuitively I climbed on to the healing table and placed myself so I could look at the nearby altar style table which radiated sunlight. The altar has a multi faith character, but clearly features several Hindu pictures among other symbols and a picture of Jesus. The central picture is a golden coloured image of Shirdi Sai Baba on a throne-like chair. The sunlight on the gold reflected from that picture.

As I was watching, the golden area grew bigger and brighter.

Something else was happening at the same time. In front of the altar there appeared a large cow, or perhaps a sturdy bullock, standing still.

The golden image continued to grow. Then Shirdi Sai Baba stepped out of the picture, alert and looking at me. I asked him why he was there. He explained that as a young man he enjoyed travelling and he was going to travel again. Whereupon he got on to the back of the bullock and was about to move away when I asked him if he could visit someone I knew who needed healing. He smiled and disappeared.

The sanctuary returned to normal and I was still left with the question of why he had come to see me.

This is the place Shirdi Sai Baba materialized in the healing room in the home of Ian Gordon. The central picture glowed golden and grew larger until Sai Baba stepped from it.

Sai Baba of Shirdi

 19th April, 2015.
Usually on Sundays about lunch time I have a visit from an Indian friend who delivers some of her home cooking for me. I have known her for many years in my meditation groups. I was expecting her as I sat in my lounge room. I meditated while I waited. I saw a large elephant appear in my lounge room. I associated that with Ganesh, the Hindu god, and realised my friend must be arriving - and expected. She was and promptly delivered her parcels in my kitchen. Impulsively I asked her if she would like a short meditation before she went home. She agreed and we adjourned to my lounge room and its wonderful array of spiritual paintings.

I asked for a blessing for my friend. A large golden area appeared and grew behind her until I could clearly see Shirdi Sai Baba in golden clothing on a golden throne. Again he stepped forward and I asked why he had come. He answered: “Because of your link with your friend.”

27th April 2015
There were other related situations occurring at this time. They involved The Gods of the Hindu culture. For instance on 27th April, 2015, one resembling Lakshmi came to speak with my friend. She told her something of her past and her future role and gave her resources to help people. When Lakshmi retreated, a small elephant walked up to my friend, coiled its trunk and placed its head on her lap in an endearing way. The elephant appeared again a few days later, this time I saw him arrive in the middle of my lounge room when I was alone. He walked over to my window and stood staring along the driveway entrance to my home. To my amazement, a few minutes later, my Indian friend’s car drove into the driveway.

5th May 2015
My friend had called to deliver some of her cooking early in the afternoon. The strange  thing is that her energy appeared to arrive before she did. On the previous occasion I saw her car apparently arrive in the lower part of my driveway. But it was not solid, and the real car arrived about one minute later. Perhaps that was why I asked her if she would like to have a meditation before she left.  There was something unusual going on.

My friend and I are able to settle to deep meditation fairly quickly after an opening prayer. For my part, almost immediately, I saw an area of gold begin to increase in brightness and size in front of my television set – which naturally was off. By then I was probably expecting some event: Shirdi Sai Baba grew in size and brightness and stepped forward in golden colours. I clearly heard someone else’s voice in the room say: “The radiant one has not finished yet.”

I cannot remember anything after that until we ended the meditation.

News from New Delhi:

My friend, excited by these events, telephoned her family in India with her news.

They in turn were excited and in their news it had been reported that on 22nd April 2015, the statue of Sai Baba in the Ashram had opened its eyes and smiled at people. This seemed to coincide with celebrations of the full moon.

Similarly about that time a photograph emerged of a couple collecting a child for adoption from the orphanage associated with the ASHRAM. Clearly behind the couple is an image of Sathya Sai Baba, red robes and black frizzy hair style clearly visible despite his passing 4 years previously.

These events seemed to parallel events here in Berwick on the 14th and 19th of April and the 5th of May 2015.The comments spoken here seem pertinent also: i.e. that he was embarking on travelling and that his work was not finished.

Tuesday 19th May 2015
I awoke suddenly at 4am in the morning of Tuesday 19th May. I had been deeply asleep, but I awoke to a voice saying one word intensely: Pray! A pause and again, the same voice: Pray! Then again, a third time, urgently: Pray!

I  wondered what this was about and was told prayers for healing were needed. I felt that meant healing generally, but then someone in particular. I prayed for about 20 minutes. The energy in my arms and hands was powerful, making them feel enlarged and swollen with heat. I knew something had happened. But I promptly turned over and went back to sleep.

The next day I recalled the event and time clearly. I was also aware that the following day I was to meet Trudi’s social group for a discussion/lunch at a local restaurant. At lunch with the social group, we spent a lot of time sharing experiences around the table. In particular I shared some of my recent experiences with Sai Baba. It was then that one of the guests, Annette, shared this event. Two mornings before, on the 19th of May, she had a waking dream at 4am. She saw a being she believed was Sai Baba. He said he came to heal her back problem. For 20 minutes he seemed to massage her back, then stepped forward with a double hand full sized pile of black energy, with spirals all around it. He explained that had been the problem in her lower back.

That was discussed around the table, then I shared my experience of being awoken at 4am to pray for healing that same morning. In hindsight, I felt the voice addressing me could have been Sai Baba. But in any case the two events could not be a coincidence with the similarities of 4am, prayer for healing with Sai Baba and the duration of 20 minutes.

28th May 2015
On Thursday morning, 28th of May, I had a small meditation group meeting at my home. Trudi, one of the group, had brought with her a container of Verbuti. She placed this on the table in the centre of the group.

As soon as I went to meditate I saw a large, colourfully decorated elephant in the middle of my lounge room. It had a large, red diamond shape on its forehead and bright designs on its face.  Sai Baba was on the back of the elephant. The elephant seemed to be intent on telling me some of the story of its life with Sai Baba. When I asked Sai Baba if blessings could be given to some of the people there, the elephant turned its head and made its trunk wave up and down over each person’s chair.

Then Sai Baba took some of the verbuti from the table and went to one of the people meditating. He made the sign of the cross on her forehead with it. Then he explained that the traditional holy mark on an Indian was a red circular mark, but his use of the cross showed religious beliefs crossed boundaries and that he preached a universal love.

We paused to share experiences, then returned to personal meditations. Again, for me, as soon as I returned to meditate, I was confronted with the elephant before me. That presence was so strong, I was unable to go to the places of meditation I would normally seek.

29th May 2015
Once a month, long time friends come for discussion and meditation at my home. We had a lot to share about our respective lives – including my experiences with Sai Baba, whose ashram they had visited some years previously.

When we did eventually meditate together, Sai Baba was there waiting. This was Shirdi Sai Baba. He was floating with arms outstretched just below the lounge room ceiling. Each hand held a rod like thing about a metre long, with a large bundle of golden threads at the end. These he waved. But when I asked him if he could give a blessing to the people present, he moved so that the rods were above their heads, and waving vigorously – even in the place of someone absent.

13th July 2015
As my Indian friend and I went to meditate in my lounge room I immediately became aware of a golden throne floating near the ceiling adjacent to a set of double doors. The throne was radiating gold and on it sat the figure of Shirdi Sai Baba looking into my room. Then I found myself behind the throne as it started to glide into the room. It made a graceful arc and lowered to stop in front of my guest as she meditated on a lounge settee. Then I realized that I was looking through the eyes of Shirdi Sai Baba. I both felt and watched as he gave her healing. After a few minutes, the throne wafted away a few metres and I watched as another person stood beside my visitor. This person had an immaculate blue robe about him and had the presentation of a priest or similar. Someone explained to me that he was showing how my friend could gain peace of mind. Then the throne retreated to the ceiling and the whole panoply disappeared.

14th July 2015
Shirdi Sai Baba apparently did not retreat far, because the next evening, 14th July, while I was involved in an absent meditation with friends in their own homes, he returned. I was asking for healing and peace for people when he appeared before me. A dominant feature was the large beehive shaped golden head piece he was wearing. In fact his whole being radiated golden energy as he joined in.

20th August 2015
Towards the end of our regular meditation, I was aware of motion near the end of the lounge room. A large unoccupied leather arm chair glowed with colour. There was a mixture of reddish blue and gold on top. Then an image materialized. It was Shirdi Sai Baba, wearing a magenta gown and large golden head ware. We looked at each other, then I asked him: “Why are you here?” and he replied, “We have to keep visiting to keep the energies flowing to you.”

Comparisons with Previous Appearances Here
A couple of years ago, Trudi, a member of my meditation group, arrived at a meeting with a container of verbuti which she had obtained some time previously from the Prasanthi Ashram. At the start of the meditation she unfastened the lid of the container. To our amazement a thin mist ascended and then moved around the room, above the heads of each of the people meditating. I thought that by the end of the meditation there would be no verbuti left in the container, but in reality, the level did not appear to have gone down.

Prashanti Nilayam: the main ashram of Sathya Sai Baba located in the village of Puttaparthi

The main thing which happened was the appearance of Sathya Sai Baba. One member of the group had not attended, and one of the chairs in the circle was unoccupied. That is, until Sai Baba arrived and sat in the chair facing me. He looked straight at me and said: “This is the second time I have visited you Ian.” I reflected then nodded to him.

He was right. Several years before I had been living in a meditation sanctuary in Mullumbimby, in Northern NSW. People attended for meditation groups, counselling and healing. On one occasion a lady came for a spiritual reading. I did not know her or anything about her. She entered the room without discussion, but seemed happy. After a prayer, I noticed movement in a large plant pot nearby. The plant swirled and grew until it was the height of a person. Someone in traditional orange robes eventually emerged and stepped forth clearly as Sathya Sai Baba. I did not know Sai Baba but had seen his picture often enough to recognise him. He wanted to speak with the lady, which he proceeded to do. I related his words to the lady sitting in her chair. After perhaps fifteen or twenty minutes he disappeared. The lady was jubilant afterwards. She explained that she was a Sai Baba devotee and had asked to speak with him. In her car were piles of Sai Baba DVDs and books. This was the event Sai Baba reminded me about as he sat in the room with verbuti swirling around
